LOCAL IT SECURITY FIRM TURNS FIVE YEARS OLD

Hurricane Labs, an information security company located in Independence, Ohio turned five years old. The local IT firm started out on January 1, 2004 in the Crown Center Building on Rockside Road in Independence. The company has since then expanded, growing from two employees to fifteen, and moved to the Freedom Square One building on Rockside Road. In March 2009 they will be moving again to the third floor of the Freedom Square One building, doubling their space to accommodate growth. Part of their growth is attributed to expanding their service offerings from a training and security consulting firm to a 24 x 7 staffed SOC (Security Operations Center) and security technical support center for several of Northeast Ohio’s top companies.

Hurricane Labs has implemented some changes to commemorate their fifth year in business. In August 2008, they launched a new website. The new website has additions that make it more user-friendly and informational. It includes open source software releases created by Hurricane Labs which are free for the public to use, tagged pages and articles that have links to related content on the website, and a “Tip of the Moment” which dynamically lists a new tip each time a new page is clicked. The Hurricane Labs newsletter has now become a section of the new website, providing information that is continuously updated every month. You can view the new website at www.hurricanelabs.com.

Hurricane Labs also has new logo, which was first used on their January 2009 newsletter. The new logo has a modern, simple look. They are implementing it internally as well. It will not replace the first logo, but be used as a second logo when needed or desired.

Lastly, Hurricane Labs created a new look for their newsletter. In addition to using the new logo, the new newsletter look is clean and provides more room for content with a three-column format instead of two. The newsletter will continue to provide helpful information to professionals in the information security community. It still consists of articles rich in content and contains information on upcoming classes and events that Hurricane Labs is involved with.
