You know you need it but what is it? Two factor authentication essentially allows you to combine a one-time password with your static password. This creates a unique combination of credentials each time you log into an application. This approach is sometimes called “something you know” (your static password) and “something you have” (your token, whether hardware or software). This has become an industry accepted best practice for building secure applications and infrastructure. This helps to defeat so called “brute force” or dictionary attacks against password protected resources. It’s a good thing and you probably need it.
So, why WiKID? That’s easy:
- It’s mostly Open Source so you can see what’s going on underneath
- It’s licensing and architecture allow for building a more redundant authentication infrastructure, affordably
- It’s affordable (did I say it’s affordable? It’s affordable)
- A wide range of token offerings (windows, linux, mac, mobile, html5)
- Nick Owen (WiKID Systems owner) is our favorite person in the world. That is reason enough!
Go and check them out then give us a call, we’ll get your WiKID system up and running for you in no time!
